Designing libraries
with passion and vision

Our architectural studio has been setting new standards in shaping library spaces in Poland for years. We believe that a library can be not only a place for lending collections but also a vibrant social and cultural center where different generations and interests come together. Our innovative design approach is based on an in-depth analysis of the needs of both users and library staff, as well as on the continuous search for new solutions that will make libraries attractive to today’s audiences and allow them to fully realize their potential.

Thanks to close collaboration with librarians and public authorities, we have a thorough understanding of the challenges facing modern libraries. During workshops and consultations, we delve into functional, organizational, and technological aspects so that our designs respond effectively to actual user needs. By combining experience, expert knowledge, and open dialogue with our clients, each GK-Atelier project is unique and tailored to its specific context.

One of our priorities is to create innovative public spaces that blend aesthetics, functionality, and a welcoming atmosphere. We aim for libraries to serve not only as places to borrow books but also as a so-called “third place”—a space beyond home and work—where the community can grow, relax, meet, and exchange ideas. We believe that in a well-designed library, everyone finds something for themselves: room for study and creative play, comfortable areas for work and meetings, and a friendly environment for leisure and cultural engagement.

Our libraries have won recognition in numerous prestigious Polish and international competitions, proving that our approach to library architecture is both desirable and appreciated far beyond national borders. As the GK-Atelier team, we continually evolve, seeking inspiration in both the real and virtual worlds, always mindful of local context and community needs. For us, every library—regardless of the scale of investment—is a challenge to integrate functionality, technology, and eye-catching aesthetics that encourage active and frequent visits.

An important part of our mission is also sharing knowledge. The studio’s owner, Grzegorz Kłoda, regularly speaks at Polish and international conferences and lectures at universities across the country. We believe that education and the exchange of experiences help develop the public architecture market, inspire the creation of increasingly better solutions, and open doors to collaboration among various institutions, companies, and organizations involved in culture and education.

We are convinced that only by listening closely to our audiences can we design a space that meets their needs and expectations. We strive to ensure that libraries become friendly, comfortable places that foster broad opportunities for social and cultural growth. As a result, collaboration with GK-Atelier brings tangible benefits to both libraries and their users. Our projects are developed with real-world challenges in mind, as well as the untapped potential of each local community.

We invite public institutions, local governments, organizations, and libraries seeking a new standard in modernizing or constructing a new facility from the ground up to partner with us. Together, we can create a space that encourages meeting, creative engagement, and ongoing discovery. GK-Atelier provides comprehensive support at every stage of the design process: from initial concepts and detailed documentation to author supervision. Our goal is to deliver solutions that not only meet contemporary requirements but are also ready to face the challenges of the future.

Customer satisfaction and the contentment of local communities are the values that guide our actions. At GK-Atelier, we combine a passion for architecture, experience, and profound respect for the identity of a place and the needs of its local population. By creating libraries, we believe we are building more than just buildings—we support growth and integration so that each of our projects becomes a genuine hub of cultural and educational life.

We invite you to get in touch and work with us to create libraries worthy of the 21st century. Together, let us ensure they become a crucial landmark on the cultural map of the region—a place where people are happy to spend time, learn, work, and develop, all while forging strong social bonds. If you are looking for a studio to realize your vision or help build it from the ground up, GK-Atelier is the perfect choice.
